Deepavali (Tamil – Yuvan Shankar Raja)

Posted by: Karthik In: Tamil OST

Kannan varum velai has Madhushree continuing her anti-Tamil tirade, even though Yuvan’s tune is simple and catchy, with techno-psuedo-Dandiya rhythms. Between the lilting Kaadhal vaithu and Pogadhe, its difficult to choose which one’s better. Vijay Yesudas’ accomplished vocals definitely help the former, but the composer’s own non-chalant vocals in the latter, has a peculiar charm with a well orchestrated ballad-like tune. Thoduven is right up Rahman’s alley with mod-qawali patterns and use of alaaps. But, this one’s a bit tinny for comfort. Dhol baje is amateurish at best. Yuvan in decent form, again, despite the bland ones peeking in between.

Kadhal Vaithu is indeed very good,But I’d had loved it more had he experimented more with the orchestration.Sounds a bit pale after a few hearings.

btw,Is Oram Po’s music out?Waiting to see what GVP has to offer after a great debut in Veyyil.Uruguthey was one of the years best songs.

Hi Folks,

The starting tune of Kannan Varum velai song sounds like “Sakka Podu” from DASS of Yuvan. Right?

My Favourite is Pogadhe for this movie. I like Yuvan’s voice. One of my preferred song (Oru naalil-the slow one) is sung by him. Please send me the lyrics for Pogadhe.

Many Thanks
