The same ol’ rhythm. Same ol’ chorus. Same ol’ Bombay Jayashree. Same ‘ol instantly likeable pop sound! That sums up Unakkul naan. Add a Madhushree version for some mild variety and that completes the pattern. Un sirippinil has a pleasant, seductive flow reminiscent of Vettayadu’s Uyirile! Karu karu apes the quintessential East 17 rock/ pop sound and makes for a pretty neat track. Kaadhal konjam has an easy, country’ish sound ably aided by Naresh Iyer delectable vocals. This is a simple, enjoyable soundtrack. Just what one has come to expect from a Harris Jeyaraj – Gautam combo. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Bomabay Jayasree-HJ Formulatic Unakkul naan,Repeated Uyirile of Vettayadu as unsrippinil, HJ’s Version of Rahman’s Neworknagaram as ‘Kadhal konjam’ makes album unpleasant..If u r enqueing Unnale Unnale and Pachaikil in ur mediaplayer u wont identify which song is form which movie..Both are almost alike..Album is Just OK.

Unnakul Naan by Madhushree is AWESOME. Madhushree’s voice is amazing. The Bombay Jayashree version is plain boring. I feel like sleeping when I hear her voice. There’s no emotion at all.

Hey
Unakkul Naan opening line has shades of ARR’s underrated “Jaane Bahara” from Dil Ne Jise Apna Kaha. People may not agree, but most of HJ’s songs are built on ARR’s songs, but I have to agree that HJ does that very well, with enjoyable results.

That’s kinda true,Hariharan. What sets apart HJ’s songs is his lively orchestration.

U ppl doesnt praise the work of any Music director frm India. U just sit simply and comment on the works of Hard working Music directors (Arr or harris or any). Do you think that ur greater than them? hey jus come on sit in a studio and try to compose a song not a song but atleast the tune. I’m sure ull lick the dust present on the shoes.
Jus stop doing this. Ur not only underrating MDs work but also hurt many fans of the same.
Don’t think too smart and act accordingly!!

I am sorry, but I couldn’t help laughing at Srini’s comments..
With all due respect to Srini and the hardworking MDs that you mentioned (whom I too believe are hardworking), my humble opinion is that there is no point getting flared up on what Karthik or others comment or criticize because that is what this website is all about! If you do not like to read what is in here, kindly avoid this website and join an arr or a hj fan’s forum!

harris is repetitive , but mindblowing – problem with such composers is that they have a very short life since thier songs lack variety .very soon harris will start sounding only repetitive and not mindblowing and eventually fade into oblivion . Yuvan and ARR come up with variety and are fairly consistent

Hi Karthick,
How come you missed of these points.
Un Siripinil sounds more like “malargale” from Pudhukottai saravanan.
Kadhal Konjam is a perfect re-composing of “kadhalikkum asai illai” from chellamey.
Waiting for ur reply
Vidhya

Hi Vidhya,
I dont know what made you think that way. I could not find anything common between those pairs except for the fact that they were composed by HJ. I somehow feel that we are bashing HJ for no reason.
Thanks.

Hey Karthick,
I guess Vidya is right on the first one. Listen to the beginning of the first stanza in both MALARGALEY and UNN SIRIPIL. Even I guess its inspired from that. And about KADHAL KONJAM, I always remember about NEW YORK NAGARAM from SOK when I hear that song and dunno whether he was inspired by that. Coz you can clearly see the similarity in instruments and the style of the song.
Thanks!!!

hey all,
have u heared the song Mudhal Nall indru(pachakilli muthucharam – Harrish). The starting guitar is similar. Not even similar, it is a copy of the guitar from Luka Chupi(Rang De basande -ARR).
ARR latest trend is that, he uses guitar a lot which can be seen in Rubaroo(Rang de basande), NewYork Nagarm(sillunu oru kadhal), etc…
I think harrish is also inspired by this latest trend in guitar as we can see in Pachakili Muthucharm and Unale unale…
Also the June Ponal… song from unnale unnale is perfect copy of BLUE all rise POP…..

With all due respect to you , srini ,Harris fans and Harris Jeyraj .
I beileve all the boarders here agree upon the fact that Harris is good – but repetitive . More variety in his music would be highly appreciated .
