Anushka’s husky overtones in Chamakuro are methodically slow and fetching. Kadhulu kadhulu starts of wonderfully well but the recycled parts from Pachaikili Muthucharam’s Karu karu catches you completely unaware. This, even as the soundtrack has a more direct, adequately modified, but ultimately mishmash, Telugu version of Karu karu in Baga baga! Shankar Mahadevan sounds quite bad here, in particular! Manasa nuvvunte and Vastava vastava, for all their sweet, rhythmic sounds are thoroughly contrived. Koncham koncham is nondescript. Even as he produces some excellent, but repetitive stuff in Tamil, his work in Telugu is downright uninspiring. First Sainikudu, and now this!

Keywords: Prabhas, Ileana, Dil Raju, Prakash Raj

I dont know what you’re talking about. I for one find the songs extremely addictive. Yes, there is the “I’ve heard this before” feel but the songs still becomes very addictive. Perhaps you’re being bias?

Good for you! After liking HJ’s 2 recent Tamil albums, I find this tedious. More than the ‘heard this before’ feel, they sound very jaded to me.

Obviously, Munna is no where near Unnale Unnale and Pachaikili Muthucharam, but it’s not that bad. And I thought Sainikudu was really good.

Hariharan: If you compare it to those 2 albums, Munna’s quite bad. The best judge for this would be Telugu audiences. Two strange things here - I personally though Vidyasagar’s music in Bangaram was decent, while Telugu folks in other forums ripped it apart.

Secondly, producer Dil Raju is using HJ for the first time - his usual composer is Devi Sri Prasad. So, I wonder what Telugu audiences feel really about this music. Sainikudu, as far as I recall, was not appreciated, but the music sunk more because of the movie’s dismal performance than anything else. Again, HJ doing a cheap Chaiyya chaiyya imitation in Sainikudu was rather dumb!

I remember seeing Sainikudu topping the charts all the time. The audio was a huge success. And, Gunasekhar in an interview admitted himself that he asked Harris to create something like Chaiyya Chaiyya and that he was mighty pleased with the result. But I do agree with you, Harris is more capable of composing something more than Munna.

harris recycled one song from his Tamil film Thotti Jaya for Sainikudu and now two songs from Pachaikili Muthucharam for Munna . I agree with Karthik - Other songs give you that heard before feel .

That guy seems to facing a creative bankruptcy . the frequency and regularity with which he recycles his own tunes in Tamil and now in Telugu would put the biggest copycats to shame.

for a Tamilian like me Munna is an Average Album but for Telugu Folks who have not heard much of Harris in Tamil this Album will Rock .

  • Arun: There's also Bombay and Kolkata as part of the series. Definitely, a commendable effort by Saregama!
  • shriramece: "Thajam thajam" is outstanding! A blend of many raagas, I feel.... I can find traces of Reetigowlai, then Bhageshri & later Sriranjani! Wow... a g
