Milliblog, now also in தமிழ்!

Just a heads-up for all the Tamil-literate readers of Milliblog - the blog is also available in Tamil at Senthaen.com - short for Senthamizh Thaenmozhiyaan! I intend to write all new Tamil music reviews and related articles in Senthaen as well. Regardless of Tamil, if you knew the reading/ writing part of your mother-tongue (assuming a non-English language here!), I’m sure you’d understand that the forms of expression in a vernacular language are very different from English and can be infinitely more enriching in understanding your own thought process. I’ve been out of Tamil Nadu more than being in it and this includes my younger days when I was in Bhopal and my mom used to force me to learn Tamil. Thanks to her and my continued pursuits on and off, I’m still able to write Tamil, reasonably well, though there are some areas I’m working on improving!

I’m using a Tamil transliteration engine available here which does a unicode version of Tamil characters instead of depending on fonts. The above link belongs to Vijay Lakshminarayanan and he has, very magnanimously, added the site’s source code as well. Incidentally, through Vijay’s page, you can write unicode characters in a few other Indian languages including বংলা, हिन्दी, ಕನ್ನಡ, മലയാളം, ଓଡ଼ିଆ, ਗੁਰਮੁਖੀ, संस्कृतम, తెలుగు and ગુજરાતી here! This, however, is best viewed in Internet Explorer, since, for some strange reason, my default browser, Firefox, jumbles up a few characters.

Keywords: Tamil blogs, blogging in tamizh, tamil film music reviews, new music reviews in tamil

  • Arun: There's also Bombay and Kolkata as part of the series. Definitely, a commendable effort by Saregama!
  • shriramece: "Thajam thajam" is outstanding! A blend of many raagas, I feel.... I can find traces of Reetigowlai, then Bhageshri & later Sriranjani! Wow... a g
  • Satissh: Karthik, I think this guy's albums don't deserve a review from you. There has never been a decent effort from him ever! Cheers! Satissh
