Kreedam (Tamil, G.V.Prakashkumar)

The instantly pleasing ambient sounds, exotic orchestration and luscious melodies in Akkam pakkam and Vizhiyil sound much like early-day Rahman but Kaneer is a serious letdown considering its a routine ‘pathos’ song we had forgotten! The composer and his tune go haywire in the mandatory intro number for the severely hackneyed Vilayaadu and even the theme just meanders. But Kanavellaam has enough stuff in terms of lyrics (father-son dialog) and those mild orchestral tweaks to catch your attention and sustain it. Despite three solid melodies, G.V.Prakash Kumar would be better off differentiating himself from his peers.

GV has given a third consecutive hit after Veyil & Oram Po Auto . Kanavellam is mindblowing - but thanks to lyrics of Muthukumar as well .

Oh I’m sure it’ll be a hit, but the only hitch is that the music is no different from someone like say, Joshua Sridhar. GVP was very original and unique in Oram Po, complete with a quirky score going with the film’s mood (when is it releasing, BTW?)…but here he is rather assembly line in terms of sound. Thankfully those 3 melodies are good even beyond that.

Hi Karthick,

Director Jeeva is no more. He is one of the most sought after directors. Why dont you write a post to post milliblog team’s deepest condolences?

Wil that be a good idea?
