Cash (Hindi, Vishal Shekhar)

Vishal Shekhar finally import reggaeton to India with the breathlessly catchy Na pucho, but with their own sweet desi touch! The hook in Mind blowing Mahiya is no doubt addictive, but this track, along with the very bland Naughty naughty and Zara bachke, is plain cliched. The title song is both vibrant and exhilarating and a layer of surf guitar plus the mild melodic tweaks take it considerably closer to the composing duo’s earlier hit, Dus. The pensive rhythm and Sunidhi’s spirited singing work quite well in Rehem kare. Three above-average tracks stick to the brief and impress adequately!

Keywords: Ajay Devgan, Ritesh Deshmukh, Zayed Khan, Shamita Shetty, Sunil Shetty, Esha Deol, Dia Mirza, Reggaeton, Daddy Yankee

Vishal Shekhar never dissapoint. The title song is addictive.Na Pucho and Rehem Kare are innovative and entertaining. It is an album you want to listen full blast on a good audio system.
Since HR has become an “actor”: VS, SEL and Pritam are only composers looking forward to.

The first 30 seconds of the title song is similar to the music of an add of Pepsi(Blue) which featured Robort Carlose,Zidane( form a sea shore). The add was mindblowing :)..anyone got any clue?

It is similar in style to Misirlou - Dick Dale & His Del-Tones from Pulp fiction because it uses surf guitar in a similar style.

Karthik, the LP song is definately inspired. I do not think the Cash title song is inspired. VS do have an immaculate record just like SEL.

pman: I agree. I only wanted t showcase more about Misirlou…what VS have done is just a variation in surf guitar usage, not Misirlou.

Saw your comment on rediff’s review, was a bit surprised since I was expecting your comments on their opinions regarding inspiration behind some of the songs.

But then, many times when you don’t say anything it means that you don’t feel that the song is inspired.

I personally thought that was a pretty dumb review. Just wanted to give people an alternate version. I certainly do not think VS have lifted Gasolina in Na pucho. Its reggaeton as a genre and not just any particular track.

Karthik, I agree that it was a lame review. Anybody can be a reviewer these days. It is a shame that Indian film music does not have a credible professional reviewer. That is the reason I look forward to your review and maybe Tuteja’s review.

pman: Actually I’m sorry for using the word ‘dumb’ for that review, since that is nothing but another piece of opinion. On second thoughts my calling it dumb was silly, since I’m trying to provide my opinion here and that may be dumb to someone else. I usually try and avoid being judgmental about reviews since its nothing but a point of view.

So, while extraneous things like sentences, grammar, approach may be personally different, the essence remains the same - an opinion.

Dear Karthik I don’t know to what extent i am right but I think the title song is most probably lifted from the Song “Rompe” by Daddy Yankee Band.
