Vazhvu venduma vaa is arduous in every way - Madhu Balakrishnan’s singing, backgrounds et all. To be fair, Unnai kel does show the sparkle the composer displayed in soundtracks like Marupadiyum, but his singing is far removed from his hey days when I used to simply lap it up. Oru murai kettaale is another story altogether - an archaic tune and dated arrangements that painfully remind us of Ilayaraja’s peak output period, while Keerthanaar aarambathiley is a thoroughly annoying and cringe-worthy hodge-podge. Its rather ironic that the music of this animated feature film is as caricatured as the film itself.

I guess this is bit harsh ..the songs are not bad , though no way near IR’s better stuff !

Atleast they could released teh BGM tracks which should be appealing and these 3 songs would have been passed away !

mumbaiRamki: I personally found it atrocious. And, thats not based merely on a comparison of Raja’s best, because such a comparison is unfair given the situation now. Even otherwise, this is not even as redeeming as what Raja offers us in Malayalam and Telugu, IMO.

Hello Karthik, I do agree with you. I guess IR is not showing any interest towards composing music for films rather he is just doing for the sake of doing it..It would be better, if he keeps composing symphonies and other instrumental stuff rather than film music. It sucks hearing such life less tunes, when compared to his yester years..

Hey, guys!!! I wanted to bring this to your attention. There is another song from the film, “Aashiqui” - “Mera Dil Tere Liye” - is partly inspired from John Franham’s 1984 hit single, “Your The Voice”, especially when he does “Oh-wo-wo-wo, oh-wo-wo-wo”. Check that and you’ll know. :P

  • raveessant: The humming tune in "Mastam" by A R R infringes Return to innocence even though it can be argued that it is an inspiration...
