Welcome (Hindi - Sajid Wajid, Anand Raaj Anand & Himesh Reshammiya)

Anand Raaj Anand crafts his n’th noisy mishmash in Hoth rasiley but redeems some brownie points singing and composing the dancy and rhythmic Uncha lamba and Tera sarafa, despite working on some extremely predictable material. Himesh and his truly nasal best in the utterly mundane Kola laka (!). He also manages to up the ante further with the shrieky and immensely annoying Insha allah. Sajid Wajid try their Partner sound - again, rather unsuccessfully in the insipid title track. Welcome’s OST is typical, pointless, mainstream noise from Bollywood – hardly serves any purpose and piggybacks solely on glitzy and starry picturization.

Keywords: Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar, Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Mallika Sherawat

I did not expect better from a Times Music Soundtrack nor from any its Junglee venture.

Abhishek is right, Times will have to come up with something groovy in order to make Junglee famous. Just by changing the brand name won’t affect the sales in a positive manner.

Talking about the soundtrack, the less said about Himesh’s tracks the better. It is evident why Anees threw him out from the film, he obviously wasn’t impressed by the work he was doing.

About the other tracks, Uncha Lamba is slightly decent. When I heard it, I felt as if ARA had composed it 15 years back and added some raps plus commercial loops so that it will be in sync with today’s sound.

Overall, dissapointing album, with nothing new.

Karthik, have you ever considered assigning a star rating to each album you review? I would love to see that.

For this specific album it is clear how much you don’t like it overall, but for some reviews it is not very clear what your overall feel was.

Hoth Rasiley seems to be a good song spoilt by some inane programming.

  • Arun: There's also Bombay and Kolkata as part of the series. Definitely, a commendable effort by Saregama!
  • shriramece: "Thajam thajam" is outstanding! A blend of many raagas, I feel.... I can find traces of Reetigowlai, then Bhageshri & later Sriranjani! Wow... a g
  • Satissh: Karthik, I think this guy's albums don't deserve a review from you. There has never been a decent effort from him ever! Cheers! Satissh
