Main chala/ chali is plain, with a pedestrian tune, with even more banal backgrounds. The composer puts his vocals to better use in Peer manavan, a lively shaadi number but Yeh hindustan hai is annoyingly trite with even more clichéd lyrics. With a genuinely interesting rhythm pattern and adventurous orchestration, Jogi aaya is lovely. This one, along with the Sukhwinder-Hans Raj Hans duet Haq allah - an authentic sufi-styled track considerably elevate the soundtrack’s standing. But, overall, Sukhwinder as a composer seems to be heading into a predictable, uninteresting rut. Subash Ghai choosing him as a composer is rather strange!

lol @ ‘Devil’s Own’! You need to come up with synonyms for ‘pedestrian’, man… you’ve been using that one too many times.

Though i don’t ve a high opinion of subash ghai the director… i always believed he had a good ear for music.. even in yaadein.. he managed to extract decent stuff from anu malik… same goes for pardes .. kisna n others… surprising.. with a theme like this… wish he had worked with mithoon….

What ever happened to Mithoon? An amazing composer at a young age.

There was another young composer that was pretty good: Akash Sagar (’1971′) What happened to this guy?

Akash Sagar is mainly involved with projects of Ramanand Sagar. He composed the title song of Dharam-Veer that is aired on NDTV Imagine.

About Mithoon, he has a few projects on hand which should be out soon.

  • Satissh: Karthik, I think this guy's albums don't deserve a review from you. There has never been a decent effort from him ever! Cheers! Satissh
