Adiye en annakkili impresses with its minimalist sound and a simple folk’ish tune while the decidedly more Yuvan-styled Kaadhal Devadhai has a groovy, catchy appeal to it - Haricharan being one of the main reasons behind that. The massy, kuthu track Rendu pakkam is appropriately pulsating with a kick-ass rhythm to match, but the highlight of the soundtrack is the remix of Ilayaraja’s delightful Oru naayagan from Dhaavani Kanavugal. This one is a throbbing remix that innovatively fuses memorable interludes from Sakalakalaavallavan’s chartbusting title song to give us an entertaining kichdi! Prem Gi Amaran’s score in Thozha is pretty effective!

Karthik, sad that you have come to not only accept remixes but also praise them as the highlight of the album

I don’t find anything sad about it. This particular remix was interesting, others may not be. Depends. Cannot admonish remixes in general.

Kadhal Devadhai caught my attention the very first time i saw the video on tv.. but on listenin to that song for second time, it reminded me of Megam Megam frm Yuvan’s Kannamoochi Yenada…

Oru Nayagan remix is definitely “intelligent” by bringin in Sakalakalaavallavan’s interludes.. but dont u think its a bit loud…??

  • viraajan: Karthik, I wish to see your review on any of D.Imman's forthcoming album who is in par with SD's standards :)
  • Arun: There's also Bombay and Kolkata as part of the series. Definitely, a commendable effort by Saregama!
  • shriramece: "Thajam thajam" is outstanding! A blend of many raagas, I feel.... I can find traces of Reetigowlai, then Bhageshri & later Sriranjani! Wow... a g
