Break free is groovy and catchy - thanks to Vishal’s spirited singing and Rajesh’s vibrant arrangements. The folk’ish Dekhta hai is adequately coarse with some interesting hooks. The almost-spoken Ik rupiya is annoying - in a soundtrack, while Jan gan man is an austere version of our national anthem. Krazzy 4 is an attempt to convince us that Break free is 2008’s filmy anthem and O re lakkad sounds at best like an outdated, mildly interesting 80s track. Krazzy 4 is at best a one-track trick; with the trick repeated 3 more times to make sure we don’t miss it!

Keywords: Shahrukh Khan, Arshad Warsi, Irrfan Khan

It is commendable on the part of Rajesh Roshan that he has moved his music with times, something that his contemporaries haven’t been able to. It’s inspiring to see that a 50+ guy working in the music industry for more than 30 years can create such a funky song.

The other songs seem more for the movie, a la Koi Mil Gaya.

BTW, Karthik, did you stand up when listening to Jan Gan Man? I didn’t, and so was looking for other people as well, otherwise I will start getting the feeling that I am a shameless non-patriotic fellow….

The song seems to have been put so as to generate sales via the brand name of “Anky Baby”. But she sounds quite similar to Shreya Ghoshal, just like Rahul Vaidya sounds like Sonu Nigam in Ik Rupiya.

No I didn’t. Its plain stupidity to stand up ‘every’ single time our anthem plays. The surrounding and the context decides when we’re supposed to stand - not playing the anthem per se.

And yes, Rajesh, at his age, composing something so young like Break Free is indeed amazing!

After Aao Milo Chalo, here is another instance where I regret having liked a song immensely.

Someone please console me, I need solace!
