Talli is a sad attempt at aping the Pritam sound, while Karle gunah’s Punjabi reggaeton is best left alone to Anu himself. Yeh nazar, with its 80s pop style is the only track that’s reasonably listenable but the confused Latino mix in Shut up, clubbed with age-old Dr.Alban rhythms is painful – Anu’s own singing adds to the woes. Mohit Chauhan’s Yaad teri aaye is downright flat and monotonous, despite desperate attempts by Anu in turning it into a classy, guitar-driven ballad. Ugly aur pagli has Anu Malik aping new-age composers like Pritam and Vishal Shekhar, with utterly uninspiring results.

I have only one thing to say…. Karthik has totally lost it….. Just having some harmless fun
I think the songs here are pretty good and I totally go with Juginder Tuteja’s review.

Its wonderful that people are enjoying this soundtrack. One person (yours truly) offering a counter opinion never stopped anybody nor should it. Two reviews can indeed be so different because the underlying opinions and context each one derives are different.

I respect the individual honest opinions regarding the music but what I don’t like is the biased opinions. You don’t have a liking for Anu’s music (The kind of massy songs churned out by him like in Humko Deewana Kar Gayee, NoEntry etc) Ugli Aur Pagli also belongs to the same and so I feel that you should avoid giving your opinions about these songs as it is a underlying fact that you will not gonna like them….
It is just like, not being a great admirer of A R Rehman’s music myself, I review each of his albums and call it a trash. I know there are many people out there who like his kind of music but just because I don’t have the liking, I don’t have any rights to call it a trash.
You may call it a Freedom of Speech but I would call it misusing.

Whoever told you that I do not like Anu’s massy music? I’ve survived endlessly on his 90s massy stuff like Naraaz, Takkar, Najayaaz, Main Khiladi Tu Anari and many others. He was ruling the roost then and I looked forward to every one of those albums from the man. Sigh – that was then! My personal opinion is that he’s nothing but a shadow of his successful 90s self now – with just occasional flashes like Jo gumshuda from Mission Istanbul.
‘Misuse’ of freedom of expression is a misnomer on the internet. What you call misuse is out of sheer love for the composer. Again, one man’s bias, is another’s belief!
At the end, you like it – wonderful. Enjoy.
I don’t like it much – Sad, but let’s move on.

Guys,
I am the one who continuosly brought down LS2050, Surprise Surprise!! I like this one. I don’t agree totally with any of the reviews. Its not totally uninspiring and its not as great as it is lauded in other review.
I think Talli rocks…I m sure it will take Anu on top of charts after a long time. Must say, Anmol is just superb and performs this song at par with seasoned singers like Hardkaur and Mika.
Yaad teri aaye is another great song…antara could’ve been more engaging..but nonetheless yaad teri aaye hook is very melodious and mohit humming it..sets the mood well.
karle gunah…is good dance no..not as good as previous two tracks but its decent attempt.
Yeh nazar is probably the dark horse…with 80′s feel to it..it will grow slowly but surely. It will be interesting to see how will it be shot.
Shut up…is bad, really confused and Anu’s singing makes it even worse.
Yes, its a desperate attempt to match steps with Pritam and VS, almost aping their arrangement styles which is sad but tune compositions make up for it, especially for talli & yaad.
Talli is great, Yaad & yeh nazar are really good, karle gunaah is good, so 3 (and little bit of karle gunah) out of 5 tracks, work for me.

Yes….. This album is 2 notch higher than LS2050. LS2050 was a good buy….. This is an excellent buy….
..Talli.. just rocks … in simple words…
..Shut up.. is typical Anu … mix and mash masala… simply enjoyable
..Karle Gunaah.. Ishq Bector’s rap interludes work wonders for the song
..Yeh Nazar.. Nice 80′s feel to it..Good picturisation will definetely help the song to become popular
..Yaad Teri Aaye.. Nice soothing melody well sung by Mohit
Overall a hit package that will definetely rule the charts. Must buy for all Anu’s fans like me

Talli is pretty good song, but I agree with Karthik that the sound is pretty much Pritam.
Karle Gunaah – I was expecting Gasolina to start anytime.
Shut Up – why does Anu Malik still sing, by the way?! It sounds like one song from Partner, a song Any would put in his 90′s albums as a filler.
I think Anu’s hiatus is hurting him. In his absence, Vishal-Shekhar and Pritam has brought all popcorn sounds from the world to Hindi film music. To provide with crowd pleasing numbers, he has to follow the same path. That’s why Karthik’s comments about him aping Pritam and VS.
On a side note, the rap in Talli sounds very much like Kanye West’s Stronger to me. Anyone?

tejas,
I don’t think there is any similarity between stronger to me and talli’s rap. I’ll still hear both of them again.
I agree with you, sounds have evolved way too much during his hiatus. After listening to Anu’s last few albums, I thought he’ll never be able to match up with new generation composers. And thats the reason, I liked this one coz’ he did surprise me by actually matching up with those popcorn sounds fused with good melodies , especially in Talli & Yeh nazar.
Although I liked this one, I agree with Kartik at some point, he is still not same as 90′s awe inspiring Anu Malik.

If Anu tries to recreate his 90′s charm, he sounds outdated. If he tries the new sounds, he just sounds like everyone else!! The chap is trapped in the paradox.
But it’s good to see him slowly and steadily finding his groove. After all, we are here for good music!!

Never mind the ‘similarity in rap’ thing. It’s too minor.

Ya, similarity is very minor.
About Anu Malik, when I said he is not same as 90′s Anu Malik, I meant he is not in form as he was in 90′s. I miss that prolific, versatile and ever- evolving Anu Malik. I agree, He really seems to have got stuck between his past glory and todays changing trends.
But I feel this album is a step forward and its good for him. Soulful melodies has always been his forte, with a good arranger on board, he can surprise us again with some really great music.
As u said, eventually all we want is good music.

Hey Karthik,
Ever since I heard the song ‘Yeh Nazar’, the song “You’re the one that I want” (from Grease) keeps popping in my head – especially the lines “I’ve got chills, they’re multiplying…”
Here’s a Youtub link to the song:

wow do you guys actually listen to these songs, or do you think “Anu Malik, crap hoga?”. This was a great soundtrack! I agree with Dr.Alban comment tho, totally overdone in the mid 90s and really ruined the Shut Up song lol and Yaad Teri Aaye is very monotonous. but Tailli/Karle Gunaah/Yeh Nazar were awesome songs! So far original too! You guys seem really harsh and hard to please :/

Why is the song “Mere khud ki talash mein” not there in the album? More so because it’s not available anywhere I’ve got more desperate to find it. Please tell me how can i get to listen it in a loop?
