Music review: Kidnap (Hindi – Pritam, Sandeep and Sanjeev Vyas)

Posted by Karthik

Guest composers – the Vyas Brothers, Sandeep and Sanjeev pitch in with a racy, techno ditty in Mit Jaaye, sung with verve by Sandeep. Pritam’s starts with a predictable, hip-hop styled Hey Ya and a slightly more bearable Shreya Ghoshal melody in Mausam. That Mausam Awesome rhyme is terribly cheesy though! With labored humor in the lyrics and shades of Dhoom’s backgrounds, Haan ji is as painful and boring as the next track, Meri ek ada shola, a forced, faux Middle Eastern-styled track. Much like Pritam’s soundtrack for Darling, only one track from the guest composers impresses in Kidnap’s OST!

Keywords: Imran Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Minissha Lamba

    Hi Karthik,

Just listening to the song ‘Mausam’. You are right about the mausam awesome rhyme being cheesy. I think the part ‘mausam yeh awesome bara, jadu cha gia’ is copied from a pakistani artist Haroon’s song ‘mehbooba’.

Although Pritam kinda recycled his starting tune from his own song ‘zara si dil mein’ from ‘janat’ (or probably not! cant make it where I heard that tune). But Im pretty sure about Haroon’s song.

    Cheers,
    Jamshid.

    Hi Karthik,
Just found out … the starting tune that i mentioned being copied from zara si dil mein from janat … is not true … the flute tune was copied/recycled from his own song ‘halka halka sa yeh nasha’ from ‘choclate’ … and of course the hook is copied from haroon’s mehbooba … just thought you would like to know :)

    Halka halka sa from choclate
