Music review: Gulama (Kannada – Gurukiran)

Posted by: Karthik In: Kannada OST

Shakalaka umma is rather cute – blends the sound of a kiss neatly in an otherwise routine tune, with Guru’s vocals adding to the fun! The melody in Snehitane is mundane and boring, while Sunidhi carries the item’ish Taare annutaare single-handedly despite the ennui-ridden tune. Chandalana kaili with vocals by Gururaj Hoskote, Murali Mohan and Gurukiran, is rambunctious with obvious references to some folk tunes. Madhu Balakrishnan’s Ishte ishte defies all the pathos within and simply goes haywire with Guru’s ambitious interludes falling flat. After a dim-witted soundtrack in Bhimoos, composer Gurukiran’s music in Gulama is, comparatively and marginally better.
