Music review: Porkkalam (Tamil – Rohit Kulkarni)

Posted by: Karthik In: Tamil OST

Aran thiran carries an impressive sound, but as a tune/ song, its predominantly bland, while Indha bhoomiyil is an adept techno-ballad in a Rajit Barot’ish way – Shaan’s Tamil is surprisingly manageable. SP Charan’s Unnale is the soundtrack’s highlight for its expansive orchestration and a spunky tune, which gets help from the composer’s extra vocalizing effects. Yaaro ivan too is catchy, but in a very conventional way – the arrangements are more impressive than the tune per se; much like the theme piece. Rohit Kulkarni’s Tamil debut is definitely interesting at least the kind of soundscape he creates in Porkkalam.
