Music review: Just Maat Maathalli (Kannada – Raghu Dixit)

Posted by: Karthik In: Kannada OST

The first thing that strikes you in a Raghu Dixit soundtrack is the eclectic nature of the sound – Marubhoomialli is a great example, fusing a distinctly Indian sounding Celtic feel over a lilting, sing-along’ish tune. The Rock-On styled stadium song, Ee kanninalli is extremely engaging, while Ello jinugiruva, despite the staid rhythm, makes up generously with its charming tune and intelligently created chorus pieces! Raghu’s own soulful melody, Munjane manjalli, is brilliant and addictive, though Banina haniyu gets sappy. The short, catchy title song is the soundtrack’s breezy highlight. Raghu confidently delivers yet another winner in Just Maat Maathalli!

South Indian music seems to be much more happening than Hindi film music these days.....the title track and Munjane manjalli are really good...
