Music review: Badmaash Company (Hindi – Pritam)

Ayaashi is racy and definitely catchy; if only it did not spell it out in the name of a chorus…! The title song has Benny Dayal crooning a flat tune embellished occasionally with intriguing reggaeton-style backgrounds, while Krishna gets a neat, foot-tapping package in Chaska – rhythmic and addictive! Pritam reserves the best for Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, in Fakeera – instantly pleasing power-melody, brilliantly arranged in typical Pritam style with a 80s pop style! Mohit Chauhan’s strangely titled Jingle Jingle doesn’t disappoint either, despite the standard Punju chorus infusion. Pritam gets it massy and right, after a long time!

    Ayaashi – Catchy All The Best material
    Jingle Jingle – Chorus is goofy but catchy and Mohit’s singing is different than usual
    Fakeera – Awesome use of Rahat in a different genre
    Chaska – Fantastically sung by Krishna
    Badmaash Company – The weakest song for me

    Nifty work by Pritam. I wish he would compose less since his work can be so good and unique. This is his first big soundtrack since November and the quality shows.

    I didn’t like it that much. Only Fakeera impressed me. Rest of the songs are just passable, with absolutely no repeat value.

    Jingle Jingle is a good song and has shades of Kelis’s Trick Me.

    I admit, earlier one was a hasty comment from my side, may be I wasn’t in right frame of mind when I was listening to this album.
    After watching the promos, I agree Pritam has got it right & this is one fun soundtrack. Ayaashi, Chaska & badmash company each set correct tone for whats the story & characters are all about in the movie & go hand to hand with flashy visuals . While Jingle jingle works until punju sound starts. And as I said earlier Fakeera is best of the lot.
    So IMSO, Pritam gets browny points for delivering very young & and total badmashi laden soundtrack.

    :-) I had to do it, coz I truly felt it was totally unfair comment, coz just after I gave it one more shot, Chaska laga hai chaska chaska…& badmash ae ae…badmash… loops were continuosly ringing in my mind and then the promos just added to the impact.
