Nagaram (Music review), Tamil – Thaman S

Posted by Karthik

Thaman unleashes his usual arsenal right upfront in Thiki thiki – builds the simple tune gradually and gets really better as it progresses; singers Ranjith and Megha are in great form. Kuthudhu‘s rhythms stand out, as much as Naveen Madhav’s vocals, while the violins in the catchy Puducha remind you of Thaman’s recent works, though he does gets the tune right and adds sax to make up! Eraivaa’s noisy and the otherwise-lewd item song, Yen peru is surprisingly good, with a rocking qawali-style format, a catchy hook and Priya Himesh’s spirited singing. Punchy, likeable commercial soundtrack from a super-confident Thaman!

Keywords: Thaman, Thaman S, Sundar C, Nagaram Marupakkam

PS: Thanks to Vimal Vijayan and Suresh Hari for pointing out that I have missed ‘Theme of Love’. There is no singer credited for this one and I conveniently assumed it is one of those pointless instrumental pieces. It isn’t! There is a lady singing this short track and it is indeed a lovely, ambient piece!

Never thought I would listen to a soundtrack of a Sundar.C movie! Really impressed with Thaman’s recent works. But pity that his works are not getting enough recognition. Thought Mundhinam Partheney would give him a big break…

Right from earam the violins have been a constant… The songs are nice on sound level than the tune level… Average tunes presented decently…
