Mynaa (Music review), Tamil – D.Imman

Posted by Karthik

Shaan’s diction sounds awkward in the title song, but tune-wise, the composer has a winner! Kichu kichu is modeled blatantly along Rahman’s Barso re, but the assortment of vocals and catchy chorus pieces help. Neeyum naanum‘s rock outlook belies Imman’s shoddy past and is mighty impressive, much like Jingu chikka, an earthy and immensely rhythmic folk track with fantastic vocals by Solar Sai and Kalpana. The soundtrack’s showstopper is Kaiya pudi, with Naresh Iyer and Sadhana Sargam – this is nothing short of a melodic triumph by the composer; haunting tune and stunning orchestration! Mynaa’s soundtrack is Imman’s best yet!

not to butt in on the wrong place, but ur new site look is really “interesting” (not a compliment). for a moment i thought it was designed by some one after having a few millis for he/she was told to design a template for “Milli” blog.

Someone had questioned why do u want to listen Imman’s & Srikanth deva’s album as they are competing themselves to get NW1W… here’s the answer we can listen to hundreds of NW1W albums to find a album like this.. I don’t blame the music directors alone for delivering a crap album… The director has to explain or to narrate the entire story & the music director should have enough scope to generate some beautiful songs… otherwise for a regular commercial stuff even rahman & raja can’t do wonders ;) ))

” I don’t blame the music directors alone for delivering a crap album… The director has to explain or to narrate the entire story”

Exactly, I’ve never seen SEL fall so hard then this year with Housefull, WAF and the unnoticed TBL soundtrack.

Even Raju Singh can deliver given the right film.

Imman sir is immensely talented,…he is not getting right opportunities, hopefully atleast this duo should be there to explore more of his good music….The songs he composed for Kadhale Swasam is still ringing in my ears….

The album is mighty impressive! Imman has been sporadic with some catchy numbers(a couple from Kacheri Arambam, for instance) amidst a pile of junk.

A Decent Instantly Likeable Album from Imaan itself is a Surprise. BTW did you notice that the BG Rhythm of ‘Kichu Kichu’ is same as in ‘Hodadavane’ of ‘PremKahani’ composed by Raaja? Is it a loop or is it that Imaan Listens to Raaja still! Even Myna Myna is very much reminiscent of Paruthiveeran Songs. Watever this album is on Loop for quiet sometime :)

Even parts of Kaiya Pudi and Neeyum Naanum reminds me of Unna Vida from Virumandi and tracks from Paruthiveeran. Not exactly able to point out the similarities though. Anyways, a comparison to Ilayaraja is a worthy praise in itself. Listening to a lot of Nagaram and Mynaa these days ;-)

Imman seems to have come up with another impressive album in Uchithanai Mukarnthaal..
