Aadukalam (Music review), Tamil – G V Prakash Kumar

Posted by Karthik

SPB and son SPC breeze through the gorgeous Ayyayo that recycles Raja’s classic folk rhythm with a neat 2.0 touch. The composer reserves the best track for himself – Yaathe yaathe; a lively, joyous outburst of love! Velmurugan’s Otha sollaala is too familiar to other currently-in-vogue folk songs, but the ominous pathos in En vennilave makes for a lovely listen; like Navin Iyer’s cheerful instrumental, A Love Blossoms! Yogi B’s rap in Porkkalam is an intriguing listen, even as he furiously munches Tamil words; the English version seems more appropriate. The Vetrimaran-GVP combo works far better than Pollathavan, in Aadukalam!

Nice work from GVP. Loved your line ‘Ayyayo that recycles Raja’s classic folk rhythm with a neat 2.0 touch’. Wow Enthiran’s Chitti V 2.0 is making into the vocabulary of Karthi’s review too….!!!!!!
