Mausam (Music review), Hindi – Pritam

Posted by Karthik

Karsan Sargathia’s earthy vocals and the orchestration’s manic energy sees Aag lage us aag ko through easily, while Hans Raj Hans, Shahid Mallya and Wadali Brothers rise above the predictably likeable and mellow Ik tu hi to hi, across three versions. Mallo malli is punchy, catchy Pritam’ish masala. Rashid Khan’s Poore se zara hams up the Punjabi pathos template, while Rabba main toh does the same with the Rabba-filled template, but with mildly better results due to that nice lilt. Sajh dhaj ke too has that handicap – way too conventional, despite all that foot-tapping noise. Mausam’s music engages sporadically.

Keywords: Pritam, Shahid Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Pankaj Kapoor, Kapoor Kapoor, Too much Kapoor

“Ik tu hi tu hi” and “Mallo malli” are really nice songs. Pritam has come up with totally different music from what he is known for.

     All tracks are fantastic,

mr. karthik was/will never give a good review of pritam music…….. i think his music sense is different then mass public……….

Anyway i think all songs of this album will be chartbuster

  • Uday K Panthagani

    Too much Kapoor!! Hehe

    • Dev Jyothichand

He should have added “Kapoor’s Kapoor” and “Siddharth Anand’s favourite surname: Kapoor”!

I personally didn’t like Mausam Album. some other Composer could have done better than pritam. no chart chartbuster song.

Seems like pritam is going rahman’s way in the sense that the songs are not instantly likeable but it grows on you.

I guess you’re misunderstanding the point of the review. This blog (Milliblog ) is not meant to cater to public tastes, or to praise anything popular. It’s only to express one person’s, Karthik’s opinion on music and some general matters related to music in a well thought out, presentable manner. Some of his opinions may have been kind of different, and not exactly agreeable, but the fact that he can usually present and argument his points well, even within 100 words, is good enough.
Now, back to topic: I haven’t listened to the album yet, but I heard Shaj Dhaj Ke, and it sounded mediocre, like any typical Punjabi wedding song. One song ,I think Ek tu hi to hi, sounded good though….fingers fully crossed for the moment…

Same here, yet to listen to the soundtrack, Shaj Daj thing sounded pretty ordinary to me. Will post my comments after listening to the soundtrack.

        • Justin Rao

Um hu. No mam Sajh Dhaj Ke is not an ordinary song! & ya do listen to the album u’ll love it. It’s not that bad afterall! :)

          • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_BWD6TZUUSLPMWRAW5ORQF4EH24 Dora

Sure sounds way too conventional as Karthik said. Yet to listen to the album but I don’t see what’s special about the song at all. Sounds pretty ordinary to me.

          • Dev Jyothichand

Yup, I had a quick hear of the album and it sounds too conventional. Nothing bad to hear, but only two songs stood out. Most of the tracks have a Punjabi touch, and Mallo Malli is kind of different…. guess I will post my comments after a few more listens..

So? You want Karthik to “love” the soundtrack that which liked alright? What are you on about?

Did you read the about section of the blog?
“You get straight-to-the-point opinions! Period. You may not agree with
many things that I share here. Fair enough. Do post your comments so we
could discuss more about them, while holding on to our respective
      notions! ”

If you have disagreements, feel free to post.  Don’t try to shove links down his throat, that won’t make any difference to the fact if he liked the album or not.

      • http://twitter.com/vipulkv Vipul Verma

I am not trying to make any differences in the fact that Karthik didn’t find this album amazing. All I wanted that other use milliblog users could get a chance to read the reviews.

Another ‘Rabba’ song. Are lyricist really running out of words? Rabba, Maula, Khuda…only Sachin is left. I am seriously considering a website that chronicles the usage of Rabba and other godly words in film music.

Mausam as a soundrack romba mosamma irruku (really bad for the non-tamils.) That too for a Pritam soundtrack. Hearing Rabba numerous times makes me want to say “shabbha” in Vadivelu style.
