The Dirty Picture (Music review), Hindi – Vishal Shekhar

Posted by Karthik

Ooh la la is a clever reworking of Bappi Lahiri’s (also one of its singers, besides Shreya Ghoshal) Mawaali number, Oi Amma and many other similar 80s songs; the strings piece by Bombay Strings Orchestra stands out, in particular apart from the sensuous urgency in the racy tune. It’s hard to believe Ishq sufiyana is not by Shankar Ehsaan Loy and also that this is not a Karan Johar film – such a dedicated, tired template! Honeymoon ki raat and Twinkle twinkle‘s tunes don’t particularly appeal but their utterly corny and appropriately imaginative lyrics definitely do. Dirty picture, functional soundtrack.

Gimmicks. That’s all Vishal and Shekhar can do these days. Their stories behind the songs are more interesting than the songs themselves, take a Chammak Challo or a Oooh La La – these two are testaments.

      So true.

Nice review. It would have been great if there were more tracks..I found Ishq Sufiana more like a Prittam composition rather than the trio.
