Panjaa (Music review), Telugu – Yuvan Shankar Raja

Posted by Karthik

Beyond that glitzy 80s synth-style music, the title song evokes marginal interest. But Ela ela gets everything right – gorgeous techno backgrounds from Yuvan that sit beautifully atop the melody. Even Ela’s slower, minimal version, Kshanam kshanam is handled wonderfully. Veyira cheyyi finds Yuvan rehashing his own Rishi number, Vaa vaa poove vaa, to fairly interesting, foot-tapping folkish results! Anukoneleduga too is a lovely listen; sweeping music and melody, and engaging vocals by Belly Raj and Priya Himesh. Paparayudu is a fun banter-style mish-mash that works quite easily. Panjaa is more of what one expects from Yuvan, in safe doses.

Superb work by Yuvan! Liked all songs, Ela ela is the pièce de résistance. What an astonishing composition! Will be new for Telugu cinema I think.
