I Love NY (Music review), Hindi – Pritam, Falak Shabir and RD Burman

Posted by Karthik

Pritam re-use of a part of Bally Sagoo’s Gud naal ishq mitha is competent – heady Punjabi’ness; Tochi’s version trumps Sukhwinder’s, incidentally! Aao na is more energetic than the usual Pritam melody – good listen, barring Tulsi Kumar. She’s intrudes in Halki halki too, where Shaan tries hard to salvage the predictable goodness-all-around tune. Falak Shabir’s Judaai is pleasant, but too familiar within the Bhatts School of Music. In Aaja meri jaan, Mauli Dave offers a superb rendition of one of Pancham’s favorite tunes (Saagar and Aaja Meri Jaan, the film!). I Love NY’s soundtrack is aural equivalent of candy-floss!

Pritam should stop producing such average soundtracks after having a great 2012. He should leave these to Sajid Wajid instead.

I think The album songs are just awsome. It’s way better than average tracks that Pritam usually produces. The thief has again theft from very great seources – the song Judaai is actually a composition of Falak Shabir and Also, Aaja Meri Jaan is Burman’s composition. To an extent he has only given music in “Aao na” and other songs. Keeping aside the credits of the songs, the album is really a nice listen. Falak – you are great in this third consecutive hit. Moreover, Tulsi e Kumar voice really suits the music and is not at all an avoidable listen. A good album overall.
