Lutt jawaan seems utterly staid and templatized, not to mention outdated. Lena dena is no different, despite Daler Mehndi’s adequately hyper enthusiastic vocals – too trite to comment. With a name like Mungda, one would expect yet another boring item song, but Mannan surprises with a punchy and interestingly arranged track; item song, no doubt, but has that extra verve in the rhythm! The debutant composer takes the surprise a notch higher with Saawan bairi, a wonderfully nuanced composition, seemingly based on raag Lalit/Todi. With the last two songs, Mannan Shah, singer-turned-Pritam’s-assistant leaves his mark in style in his debut!
